Make your own macaroni11/18/2023 ![]() Add 20 drops of food colouring to get a nice strong color:Īdd about 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of uncooked pasta noodles to the bag: I know it doesn’t sound like much, but it goes way further than you think. Take 1 tsp of vinegar and put it into a zip lock bag. You can check out Teaching Tiny Tots and Happy Hooligans for more dyed pasta ideas. I’ve also seen this done with rubbing alcohol too, but vinegar seemed a lot less toxic to me. It’s really easy to do! All you need is white vinegar, food coloring, and pasta. But once Leah looses interest in sorting and counting games, you better believe these bright little guys will be used for some awesome crafts! We focused on playing with the noodles themselves today, which I’ll describe more below. But macaroni noodles only get you so far before your sanity needs you to branch out and try something different (or maybe that’s just me?) Dying pasta bright colors is a great way to spice up your “noodle craft” activities! I scoop the damp and crumbled dough up with my bench scraper and cut it into the rest of the dough.Pasta and kids crafts seem to go hand in hand. Use your hands or a bench scraper to continue bringing the dough together. And the mixture will still be quite floury. The dough will be damp and chunky in some parts and loose in others. Simply push some additional flour up against the break-through with your hand or with a bench scraper, and continue mixing).Ĭontinue like this until the dough starts to come together and the eggs have been incorporated. (If the eggs break through your flour while mixing, don’t panic. Use a stirring motion and go slowly to avoid any eggs breaking through the bowl of flour. ![]() Use a fork to whisk together the eggs and oil.Ĭontinue whisking the eggs, but begin pulling in bits of flour from inside the well. Place the eggs, yolk, olive oil and salt into the well. Create a large well or crater in the center, big enough to hold the eggs and olive oil like a bowl. Heap the flour into a pile on the countertop. That will dampen your noodles and cause them to stick together as they thaw. Sometimes, condensation or ice crystals form inside the bag. Don’t leave them to thaw on the counter while you are preparing the rest of your meal.
